With the NEW Harry Potter book out, What will the counsel be from JW LAND ?
by run dont walk inwith the frenzy going on worldwide, for the long awaited harry potter release (well no that long) (i let one of the girls off early from work the other night so she could get one for her daughter, she had about an half hour wait)($38.00 canadian).
anytime, there is a big item that people on the entire planet want, (books, games,movies, latest fads, latest tech stuff).
the watchtower has to put in their two cents.

Are the JW rules different worldwide ??? and WHY ???
by run dont walk ini have read alot of threads recently and it seems to me that each country of jw's has a set of different rules.
maybe most of the doctrines are the same, but there seems to be a big difference in ............... beards ........ clothing ........ tatoos ......... piercing body ......... grooming in general ......... cars ........... jobs you do ........ schooling .............. university ........... dating .......... what do you think ????????.
i read one comment (can't remeber who it was) who said that the usa jw's seem to be alot more concerned about stupid little things then most other countries.. hopefully we will get comments from all over the world on this topic, and compare some differences.. also brings up the question why ???????.

I read one brother got taken off his responsibilites because he grew a beard, but in some countries overseers have one, should he change countries ??? Did not Jesus and the apostles have beards ??? Or will the Watchtower receive "new light" and change the pictures in upcoming books/magazines ???

So it brings up the question, What will the Watchtower say about this book ??? (oh they will NOT mention by title at your local kingdom hall, but you will know what they are talking about)
And with the summer assemblies coming up, I'm sure there will be a talk on this, What do you think ???

Just broke up with my girlfriend

Once again, The Watchtower has ruined a potential couple, who could of continued in life together. And of course they take no responsibility, because they are justified in all their teachings.
Stories like this really piss me off,
Why do the clowns at the Watchtower, feel it's necessary for JW's to date/marry only JW's, who are they to decide.

If you break up for personal issues, or compatability problems, or things just aren't working out, so be it, that's the way it goes. But reading the posts I get the impression you two broke up because of the Watchtower.
Hopefully one day she will realize just how stupid she was, not that this does you any good now.

Why I think the jw's are a cult and not a religion
by Ron1968 infortunately, it is not the case with me but this deal about parents not talking to their children who have been disfellowshipped is horrid.
it is bad enough for those who have been disfellowshipped, but to have their own family turn on them?
as such, i think the jw's are a cult as they separate families.

Take it one step farther,
not only family turning on you, but the whole congregation cuts you off, close friends you may have had for years and years.
the other one that bugs me is parents telling their children that all kids that are not JW's will die at Armaggeddon. How pathetic is that ?
Cult ? Yes, Religion ? Yes , Waste of life ? Yes

I was never baptized, but boy did I feel the pressure ....... what are you waiting for ??? don't you love Jehovah ??? (i was in my late teens and brought up in the borg) I remember watching many baptism's and seeing kids at 10-15 years old getting baptized and thinking, what could they possibly know about life and the pressure/temptations they will face in their late teens/early twenties. I always thought as long as I don't get baptized, I can't get disfellowshiped. the following was a comment by KGB "I was an unbaptized publisher, I got out 2 weeks before baptism" Boy talk about cutting it close, to KGB (I hope you read this thread), what was going through your mind as it got closer ???, (let's say the last month or so, before). What made you change your mind ??? Did you feel pressured at all ??? So what about the rest of you on this forum, did you really want to do it, or did you feel you HAD to, or felt pressured to by the congregation/parents.

I was allowed to go to the meetings .............
I did not want any position, and had no deisre to move up the BS ladder,
Did the sound and microphone crap, but since I was not baptized, they knocked me off the list,
oooooooooo !!!!!!!! I better get baptized, or I won't be allowed to do microphones anymore !!!!!!!!!!!!
I spent years in therapy over this matter (YEAH RIGHT)

could of been as a child, teenanger, adult,anytime in your life, did you feel that being a jw (or jw parents) prevented you from doing things you really wanted to do.

guess what I just found out??????!!!!!!!!!
by Ravyn inlet me start at the beginning..... my husband lee is a cable guy.
he finished a 2 yr porject for comcast as their project coordinator for rebuild back in july of 2002 and was laid off for 6 months in tn.
in decmeber of 2002 i found an ad on a cable jobsite online for temporary work in nc and since his parents live there we gave the company an email to check it out.

What are people/parent so scared of in life, that makes them join the JW's?

that was the kind of answer I was looking for from my parents/family
But they will go to their grave believing all the JW garbage, regardless of how much I prove ...
There is nothing WORSE, then people that agree with your ideas/viewpoint and don't change a thing. I guess they have reached that DREADED stage in life where "I have spent my whole life in the Watchtower, IT HAS TO BE TRUE."
At least you can admit to it, and move on to make your life/kid's life better.
We all make maistakes daily, it takes a real person to admit, "maybe I was wrong."
If Simon had an award for best reply of the day, you would win hands down.
Well, enjoy the rest of your time, and your kid's too, and I'm sure grandkids too (someday)
